I'm actually the energy vampire to myself, I put alot of energy into talking thinking I need to keep their attention. I drain myself and I had an older mentor/friend who would say, "Well, I'm going to let you go because I know you're busy". haha. I knew what she was doing, she had to kindly cut me off because I wouldn't stop talking. haha

I recently ended a friendship with someone on the needy spectrum. He moved away with his wife about 7 years ago. Once he settled in, he would call whenever he felt like it - always late at night and times that most people would think was unreasonable. This became more of a problem when I was in a line of work where I needed to be accessible by phone (on call) after regular daytime hours. He would often call when I was on call so my anxiety shot up all the time. I struggle with getting sleep and staying asleep explaining to him that this was a problem for me. He would be dismissive or trivialize this problem and feel completely entitled to keep doing it. I get the impression he thought it was funny. Antagonistic and borderline harassment. In the 7 years that he was in his new location, he never put any effort into developing a new social network or getting involved with social activities. For this reason, I felt like I was crutch for him. I blocked him and wish I'd have done it sooner because he contributed to my issues and in the end, I can't stand dealing with him anymore.

I think ethnic has something to do with it too I'm Italian and we speak in different tones a lot of emotion goes into our communication and a lot of times this works against you I wondered if you had any comments

I had a piano recital, was very prepared, and actually felt pretty relaxed. When I sat at the piano, my hands started shaking uncontrollably. I struggled through it, but I couldn't control the shaking.

Why do we need to do this? Why can't we be what we are? I'm exhausted of people trying to change us, why do we have to adapt to each other. I just don't care about other people and really like to spend some time with them just for fun, but of course for a short period of time. What's my problem? People are ignorant and always judge us because we are just different. Is it not good to be different? Why are they always asking if I'm okay? Do I need to talk loudly and participate so they feel I'm okay?

I am already effective in communication. I can easily and clearly state my opinion or facts. I love how your first tip is to fain interest in the other persons conversation. Does that make it better for me or them? Relating to others is difficult as most people live mundane lives which i have not. I ability to understand their interest in for example the real housewife as much as they can't understand my distain for the same.

I just found out from 2 people I have been the source of gossip for get this. 8 years. Just how bored are church people? 💀 I tried to ask a lady out who was 8 years older than me. It was so bad that i personally blocked her. Fast forward a few months and everything was weird. And I was hearing strange stories. I don’t talk to these people anymore. Maybe should I approach? Or let them approach me?

I had the worst interview of my life today. I could hardly answer any of the questions. My uncle died last night and I thought I could handle it but I just went blank and felt a tremendous weight on my chest. I felt like I would pass out. All the questions they asked I thought I was prepared for I couldn't find the words.

This is all very helpful to get yourself noticed but this doesn't address the key area which is how going forward you need to gain an agreement esp. if the topic or subject is contentious but needs a tough C-suite decision.
